Inside the story
Meet Ishmael
Ishmael is a wandering, thoughtful sailor who takes up the role of narrator in Moby-Dick. Restless with life on land, he goes to sea and signs aboard the Pequod, where he joins Captain Ahab's crew on a whaling voyage.
