Known as Tarzan of the Apes, he is a powerful, highly skilled white man who moves through the African wilderness with the abilities of a great ape and hunter. He tracks enemies, protects travelers, communicates with animals and local peoples, and opposes slave raiders.

As drawn: A man in his early forties, tall and powerfully built, with bronzed skin and keen, watchful eyes. He wears only a simple loincloth and is otherwise bare-bodied.

An American geologist conducting scientific research in the Ghenzi Mountains. He is scholarly, curious, brave, and resourceful, but inexperienced in wilderness survival and notably poor at shooting and cooking.
