Meet Ecgtheow
Ecgtheow is a Wægmunding warrior and the father of Beowulf. After slaying Heatholaf of the Wylfings, he fled his land and found protection through Hrethel's daughter, whom he married; Hrothgar later settled the debt arising from the killing.
