Jay Gatsby is Nick Carraway's enigmatic next-door neighbor in West Egg, a fabulously wealthy young man who hosts dazzling summer parties for hundreds of strangers. Gracious and watchful, he addresses nearly everyone as “old sport” while revealing little about himself and inspiring endless rumors.
