Lady Bracknell, also called Aunt Augusta, is a formidable aristocratic matriarch and a powerful guardian of Society’s standards. Algernon’s aunt and Gwendolen’s mother, she closely questions suitors about their family background and wealth, and she is deeply displeased by Jack’s obscure origins.
