Rev. Canon Chasuble is the scholarly, celibate rector of the country parish near Jack Worthing’s manor house and a doctor of divinity. He is on friendly terms with the household and harbors a genteel, unspoken affection for Miss Prism, while standing ready to christen Jack and Algernon as Ernest.
