Inside the story
Meet Doctor Manette
Doctor Manette is a physician who has been wrongfully imprisoned in the Bastille for eighteen years. At the story’s outset, his daughter Lucie has helped bring him back to life, but he remains fragile and absorbed in shoemaking, a habit formed during his confinement.
