Meet Sydney Carton
Sydney Carton is a brilliant but dissipated English barrister who does the hard work behind Stryver’s courtroom successes as his “jackal.” He has squandered much of his promise through drink and carries a hopeless love for Lucie Manette, whose kindness contrasts with his bleak view of himself.

Strikingly resembles Darnay in feature, but careless and slovenly by contrast: dark, disordered hair, a flushed face marked by drink, and reckless, half-cynical eyes; dressed negligently, often with a barrister's wig and gown askew.
